Current Vacancy: Gantry Crane Engineer (Electrical Bias)

We are seeking an experienced Gantry Crane Engineer with a strong electrical background to support our nationwide customer base.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with hands-on experience in overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment, looking to develop their career in a specialist and growing industry.

The Role

As a Crane Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults on overhead and gantry cranes

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and statutory inspections

  • Attending breakdown callouts and delivering effective on-site repairs

  • Installing, commissioning, and testing crane systems and lifting equipment

  • Producing clear, professional service reports and documentation

  • Providing excellent customer service and technical support

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

  • A strong electrical background (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)

  • Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, or lifting equipment

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and fault-find confidently

  • Good mechanical understanding (gearboxes, motors, brakes, wire rope systems)

  • A full UK driving licence

  • A proactive, professional approach with strong attention to detail

  • Confidence working independently on client sites

  • Based in Sheffield or Barnsley area

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • LEEA qualifications

  • Experience with inverter drives, pendant controls, and control panels

  • Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations

  • Background in industrial maintenance or heavy engineering
