Current Vacancy: Gantry Crane Engineer (Electrical Bias)
We are seeking an experienced Gantry Crane Engineer with a strong electrical background to support our nationwide customer base.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with hands-on experience in overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment, looking to develop their career in a specialist and growing industry.
The Role
As a Crane Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults on overhead and gantry cranes

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and statutory inspections
-
Attending breakdown callouts and delivering effective on-site repairs
-
Installing, commissioning, and testing crane systems and lifting equipment
-
Producing clear, professional service reports and documentation
-
Providing excellent customer service and technical support
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with:

A strong electrical background (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)

Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, or lifting equipment
-
Ability to read electrical schematics and fault-find confidently
-
Good mechanical understanding (gearboxes, motors, brakes, wire rope systems)
-
A full UK driving licence
-
A proactive, professional approach with strong attention to detail

Confidence working independently on client sites
- Based in Sheffield or Barnsley area
Desirable (But Not Essential)

LEEA qualifications
-
Experience with inverter drives, pendant controls, and control panels
-
Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations
-
Background in industrial maintenance or heavy engineering
